How to Track Your WES Application: Understanding Status Updates (From "Pending" to "Final").



One of the most stressful parts of the Canada PR journey is checking your WES portal every day and seeing the same message. Understanding what each status actually means can save you a lot of "refresh-button" anxiety.

🚦 Phase 1: The Waiting Game

1. "Waiting for Documents"

  • What it means: You’ve paid, but WES hasn't acknowledged your transcripts yet.

  • The Reality: Even if your courier tracking says "Delivered" to the Toronto office, WES can take 7–10 business days just to open the envelope and scan it into their system.

  • Action: If it stays like this for more than 15 days after delivery, contact WES with your courier receipt.

2. "Documents Received / Review for Completeness"

  • What it means: WES has your documents! An analyst is checking if you sent everything (degree certificate + mark sheets) and if they are in the correct format.

  • Prep with Daljeet Tip: This is the stage where most "Incomplete" notifications happen.

🔍 Phase 2: Verification (The "On Hold" Stage)

3. "Waiting for Institution to Verify"

  • What it means: WES has sent an email or a photocopy of your documents back to your Indian university to confirm they are real.

  • The Reality: Your file is now "On Hold." The clock stops here.

  • Action: Contact your university’s Registrar or Examination branch. Sometimes they charge a "Verification Fee" that you must pay before they reply to WES.

4. "Evaluation in Progress"

  • What it means: Great news! Your documents are verified. An evaluation specialist is now comparing your Indian marks to the Canadian 4.0 GPA scale.

  • Timeline: You will usually see an "Estimated Completion Date" appear now.

✅ Phase 3: The Finish Line

5. "Final Review"

  • What it means: Your report is drafted. A senior evaluator is doing a final quality check to ensure no errors were made.

  • Action: Just sit tight—you are 48 hours away from the finish line!

6. "Report Completed" (The Final Status)

  • What it means: Your ECA is ready! You can now download the PDF version from your dashboard.

  • Next Step: Copy the ECA Report Number and paste it into your Express Entry profile to claim your CRS points immediately.

  • The WES App: Download the WES mobile app for real-time push notifications. It's faster than waiting for emails.

  • Watch the "Last Updated" Date: Even if the status text doesn't change, a change in the "Last Updated" date means someone has touched your file.

  • DigiLocker Advantage: If your university uses DigiLocker, you might skip the "Waiting for Institution" stage entirely, as the documents are pre-verified!
